This is a 40+ hr/week full time position. Weekend, holiday, and evening hours will be expected.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities within the zoo. Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. Prepare financial and/or operational analyses and reports. Audit current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of operations.  This is a 40+ hr/week full time position. Weekend, holiday, and evening hours will be expected.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of employee development and performance management
• Knowledge of hiring procedures
• Knowledge of operating procedures
• Knowledge of management principles and practices
• In-depth knowledge of the customer service industry
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of staff and guests.
• Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Manage the daily functioning of the operations departments, (Guest Services, Security, Custodial, Cash Office, Annual Passes, and Rides), and their various components, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Recruit, hire, and retain employees.
• Supervise personnel with an emphasis on training and development, exceeding guest expectations, and reaching departmental goals.
• Evaluate staff performance and make personnel actions.
• Motivate employees to achieve high service standards and reach peak performance.
• Review revenue and operating goals on a daily basis.
• Produce on-going grounds analyses to make recommendations on custodial issues, safety issues and any other guest related improvements throughout the entire zoo.
• Take an active role in the Safety Committee.
• Prepare guest feedback reports for senior company officials. Provide advice and assistance in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of modifications to existing operations to improve guest service.
• Develop (in conjunction with the Director of Operations) annual operating budgets and revenue goals.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Education Experience:

• Some college required, Bachelor's Degree preferred 
• Management experience, preferably in a zoo, aquarium or museum type of environment. Hospitality experience a plus
• Experience in cashiering functions and/or accounting methods is required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum educational requirements
 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to withstand typical outdoor Florida climate.
• Must be able to work on nights, weekends, holidays, events, and flexible daily hours.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
