Position Summary:
To maintain and perform maintenance on pumps and life support systems in zoo and off site structures. Other duties include special construction projects and assisting with facilities maintenance when needed.
Skills Needed:
- Considerable knowledge of pumps, water quality and facility life support systems.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
- Knowledge of operations associated with buildings, mechanical maintenance, pump repair.
- Knowledge of use, repair and care of equipment pertinent to the performance of life support systems
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be a motivated self-starter.
- Deal courteously and tactfully with employees, peers, superiors, vendors, and the general public.
- Must be able to see projects to completion.
- Must be able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Education Experience:

Must possess a high school or equivalency diploma.

A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum educational requirements.

Physical Requirements:
- Work outdoors in typical Florida climate.
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
